Abstract

Communication is, in essence, a process of sharing ideas and information, and it is the process by which the sender of the message and its receiver interact in specific social contexts, and in this interaction ideas and information are transmitted between individuals about a specific issue or event. In this context, the media paid considerable attention to news coverage of the crisis of the rise in the price of the dollar against the Egyptian pound, as it represented a real crisis in Egypt due to the repercussions of the high price of the foreign currency and the decrease in the price of the local currency on the economic situation and the resulting situation of inflation with the decline in the purchasing value of the pound and the rise in prices local and imported commodities, which is what made some citizens resort to saving their money in the form of dollars for fear of the devaluation of the Egyptian pound based on the information they obtain from various information sources. From this standpoint, the current study will take from the theory of seeking information a theoretical framework to identify the sources from which expatriate Egyptians in the Arab Gulf states derive their information about the economic conditions in Egypt and the extent of their confidence in these sources and their implications for dollar savings that negatively affect the value of the Egyptian pound
