Abstract

The new media has proven its ability to cross geographical boundaries easily, and the Internet has become the primary source for obtaining information. The intermarriage between the different types of media witnessed happened for the first time in history between print media and audiovisual media to produce for the world a new, more distinctive media, namely the Websites, which has become a scientific encyclopedia that provides its services to all beneficiaries in all fields, such as the field of scientific research, the field of business in all its aspects, and the governmental field in its various forms.
The media outlets are keen to use the benefits of the Internet in promoting and consolidating their media message through websites that are not only re-presenting the content of the traditional medium on the sites, but rather independent electronic portals that focus on providing interactive services to the user.
The network has also turned into an educational tool that provides information and images with little time and effort, as these sites are considered an educational mean for university students and a mean of communication between individuals. In the university community, websites play a vital role due to the students' who need to access information, publish information, express opinions, or self-learning.
This study sought to identify the reality of the journalism and media department students at Petra University's browsing of websites, in addition to identifying the reasons for browsing, and the problems that prevent students from achieving effective use of websites, whether from inside or outside the university, and to submit proposals.
