Application of Professional Guidelines in TV Talk Shows for Covering the Post-Arab Revolutions: A Study of the General Audience and Media Persons

Abstract

The problem of the study is related to the state of chaos in the Egyptian media and the various violations that prevailed in dealing with political issues and criticizing them after the revolution in the Arab talk-shows and their effects on the public and the extent of their compatibility with this method in proposing or rejecting it.
 A field study was conducted to find out the public's opinion towards the media treatment and the opinion of media persons towards the application of professional rules in the talk-shows and the most important pressures and restrictions he is exposed to in covering the accelerating events following the Arab revolutions.
The importance of this study is due to the increase in public interest in opinion programs among the Egyptian and Arab public, especially after the Arab Spring. Satellite channels compete with each other in providing the best content in talk shows to reap high viewing rates and increase their share of advertising cake. The presenters of these programs have become stars who earn millions annually. There are many red lines related to the freedom.
 This study aims at recognizing the public’s opinion of the content of these programs to determine the extent of their commitment to the ethics of the profession, believing in the role of the dialogue programs in serving society by spreading new concepts about development, political participation and effectiveness, which creates a favorable national environment. Regarding democracy and spreading the concepts of modern civil societies to catch up with the world in this field.
The study focuses on media persons as they play a role in achieving the popularity of the program, which requires the evaluation of the professional performance.
