Abstract

The study sought to monitor, analyze, and interpret the discourse strategies of the Arab press in both Egypt and Jordan towards political and cultural values, by analyzing the discourse mechanisms of the Egyptian newspapers Al-Ahram and Al-Dustour newspapers during the study period (from January 2018 to January 2023), and the determinants The formation of these mechanisms, as well as the factors and variables affecting the production of this journalistic discourse, whether societal factors and variables, or factors and variables related to the journalistic and media climate that produces it.
The study proved that the discourse of the Arab press under study plays an important role in formulating general perceptions of political and cultural values, and these perceptions differ from one society to another according to the difference in the prevailing cultural context in each society.
Where the discourse of the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram and the Jordanian newspaper Al-Dustour agreed on the importance of political and social balance. On the other hand, the two discourses differed on the reform approach, as the system of values was reconfigured and rearranged in light of the two revolutions that the Egyptian state witnessed to demand change. While the government in Jordan followed the school of development; And not the school of revolution and radical change, through multi-entry reform, which enshrined stability and reform vision in construction and development.
