Adolescents depending on Electronic Newspapers and Social Network and its role in creating awareness about the risks of Violating privacy on the Internet.

Abstract

The study seeks to answer the following question to what extent adolescents depends on electronic newspapers and social networks, and what is the role of electronic and social network in making adolescents more aware about the risks of violating privacy on the internet?
This study depends on both social responsibility and media dependency theory using questionnaire to collect data from purposive sample of high school students who uses the internet.
 The main results show that 58% of the sample are heavy users to internet more than 3 hours daily, and nearly half the sample spend more than 3 hours on social networks on daily bases, and they depend on their mobiles to log online.
Furthermore, the results revealed that adolescents prefer online tv channels websites and in the second place online printed newspapers websites. Finally, 78% of the sample were exposed to violation of their privacy online in term of spying or the theft of the personal data.
