One of the most important topics in the Egyptian Society is the media coverage of the religious diversity issues, especially as the different media outlet play key role in the different stages of democratic transition in the Egyptian society. The media plays an important role in providing public with different information, which contribute to the formation of the public opinion, also they work on developing the national awareness about different issues. This study seeks to analyze the role of the Egyptian newspapers in covering religious diversity issues in the Egyptian society from the perspective of citizenship. This study depends on social responsibility and gate keeper theory, using survey to collect data from a sample of (100) journalists working in national, partisan, and private newspapers. The main results revealed that the sample agree on the importance of committing to professional standards while reporting such issues, these standards should include balance, privacy protection, accuracy, and impartiality.
