There has been a growing interest in politics among the Egyptians since 2013 and 2012 events. People have turned to both traditional and alternative seeking political information to serve their interests. talks shows and Facebook have become the most important sources of political information. This study attempts to analyse traditional and alternative media coverage of the Egyptian 2014 presidential elections and its impact on public opinion. The study uses a mixed method approach of content analysis and audience surveys. A content analysis of three TV talk shows and a purposive sample of Facebook accounts during May 2014, was followed by survey of a clustered sample of the Egyptian audience (n=480). The study showed that there is a significant correlation between reliance on Facebook and Talk Shows for political information and their levels of trustworthiness. It also showed a significant correlation between reliance on Facebook and talk shows and their level of influence on public opinion.
