Abstract

The Emirati press has paid special attention to the political transition Egypt between the 3rd of June 2013 and the referendum on constitution in the 18th of January 2014. This attention reflected the huge Emirati support to the political transition and the change in Egypt-Gulf relations after the fall of Muslim Brotherhood. This study aims to analyse the image of Egyptian political transition in AL-Khaleej newspaper, that is known with its Arabic nationalistic ideology. It is a case study, in which the researcher conducted a discourse analysis to all opinion pieces published in the newspaper during the transitional period. The researcher found that Al Khaleej newspaper focused the national conflict of interest between the government and civil society on one hand and the Muslim brotherhood on the other hand. It also talked about the negative shift in Egyptian-American relations and its impact on the USAID. Surprisingly, the newspaper suggested that Muslim brotherhood should participate in the political transition. They should stop their violence and reorder their priorities as Egypt has changed.
