Media professionals’ attitudes towards restructuring the Egyptian media system

Abstract

The problem of the current study is to identify the attitudes of media professionals towards restructuring the Egyptian media system. This research problem is based on the fact that there are multi-faceted and profound changes that have occurred in the media scene in Egypt since the January 25 revolution and then the June 30 revolution and its repercussions. This has been reflected in the media work environment, whether the community environment in its various dimensions, or the internal environment that is represented by the media itself, and by interaction of the societal environment and the work environment, challenges and opportunities that appeared in the midst of these events that the media people were in the focus influencing and being influenced by them, especially during the June 30 revolution and afterwards when the constitution was approved in 2014, which included articles to restructure the Egyptian media system. With the active presence of media professionals of various trends and fields, it becomes necessary to investigate the attitudes of Egyptian media professionals towards restructuring the Egyptian media system and the related characteristics of the work environment, including the existing opportunities and challenges that are reflected in the general climate of media practices.
