Abstract

The competition between television channels is evident in the talk shows, as it is based on freedom of expression and discussion of divergent opinions, some of which are distinguished by the presence of the audience in the studio and sometimes giving their opinion. From the standpoint of concern for social responsibility, especially professional performance standards and ethical charters for the media, the problem of this research was to study the extent of the commitment of the talk shows on the Egyptian satellite television channels to the ethics of the professional practice of the communicator, as well as the knowledge of the Egyptian public's attitudes in their level of performance and their vision of improving professional performance. This study derives its importance from the necessity to know the performance of the communicator, evaluate his professional performance, and the ethical charters to be emulated, in order to advance the communicator's professionalism and focus on the ethical aspects that should stem from the concept of social responsibility.
