Abstract

The emergence and widespread of social networking sites had a great impact on the development of the audience's relationship with electronic journalism, and the most prominent features of this development are that they have become for many users the starting point of entering to read news of the websites through the online account of these newspapers. So, instead of first entering news sites to read news and topics, the user reads what others have nominated and shared (Share), and subsequently goes to newspaper sites to get acquainted with the details, which is what the electronic newspapers themselves took advantage of; creating accounts on these social sites through which they would provide news, and links to topics in a timely and continuous manner, to encourage users to follow these links and visit their sites. This paper aims at monitoring the different circumvention mechanisms used by Egyptian electronic newspapers in the formulation of their headlines on Facebook, to show the extent to which the wording of these headlines differs from the titles of the topics themselves on the newspaper's website, and to try to identify the different types of these mechanisms and the effect of their use on the validity, accuracy and authenticity of headlines. Further, this study seeks to explore the new circumvention mechanisms that have arisen in the environment of electronic journalism and the means of social communication, and monitoring the extent of agreement and accuracy of the title in its expression on the body of the topic without researching the accuracy or validity of the topic itself.
