The expression of the opinions of media professionals opinions through social media sites

Abstract

This paper aims to identify the willingness of media professionals -as one of the opinion leaders-to express their opinions on social media sites on important issues of a controversial nature, in case their opinions differ from their perceptions about the prevailing opinion environment both in society and on social media sites, and whether variables such as fear of isolation, the importance of the issue effect their expression.
The study employs quantitative, descriptive methods to diagnose relationships between variables.
The paper harnesses the theoretical background of spiral of silence.
the main results concluded by this study included that there is no relevance between the gender and the age as factors to the ability and the willingness to express the opinions in regards of a certain issue.
