Abstract

The phenomenon of terrorism is characterized by complexity at the theoretical and field levels. Researchers have a real problem in defining the "phenomenon of terrorism".
As for the relationship of the terrorist phenomenon with the media, researchers are divided into two groups regarding the role the media plays in covering terrorism issues: while one group believes that the media contributes significantly to spreading terrorist ideas and even encourages more violence. A second group believes that the media is a victim of terrorism, and that failure to publish news related to terrorism makes the media lose its credibility with the public.
Media play the role of intimate friend to terrorism and terrorists, whether this is intentional or not. Especially with regard to what has become known as "electronic terrorism". This study addresses the hypothesis that: The use of new technology by violent groups and their use to serve the goals of these groups is one of the sources of their strength and survival, and the media is at the same time one of the most important means of combating the terrorism. The study analyzes the discourse of these groups on internet sites in terms of the content on the "propaganda" of these groups.
