The perceptions of the electronic media professionals in the UAE for their professional roles and the factors affecting them

Abstract

In spite of the bright indications of the media situation in the UAE, in terms of the number of newspapers, media outlets and media cities..etc, there is an ambiguity surrounds the conditions of workers in the UAE press, in terms of the extent of their professionalism, their satisfaction with their general conditions, and their complex and conflicting relations inside and outside the institution.  
This study seeks to identify the media professionals ’evaluation of their role and the factors affecting their performance in media as a profession and as a social role, and their relationship with society, sources and all the formats in which electronic media move and operate in the UAE. This study aims also at identifying media professionals working in electronic media in the UAE in terms of their educational backgrounds, nationalities, their concept of media work and their role in society, and their perceptions of their professional roles and the factors that affect their performance of their roles.
