The role of sports programs on Egyptian satellite channels in facing sports intolerance

Abstract

Sports media play a major role in spreading sports' morals. It is possible to return the sports community to the correct approach by ensuring the publication of purposeful sports topics and programs, constructive criticism, discussing sports problems and finding solutions to them. Emphasizing the complete belief of owning the spirit of sports, accepting results, and continuous hard work to improve them in accordance with laws and regulations.
However, in the recent period, the sports media has been accused of being deviated from its basic role, and has become a main engine of intolerance and tension.
This study aims at recognizing and understanding how sports programs on Egyptian satellite channels confront the problem of sports intolerance.
In addition the study seeks to clarify the opinions of a sample of the enthusiastic fans on the clubs' (ultras) in the media service, provided by TV sports programs on Egyptian satellite channels, and the extent to which they address the problem of intolerance, and their contribution to combating this negative phenomenon, or encouraging it. The problem of the current study is summarized in The answer to a key question which is:"How can sports programs on Egyptian satellite channels play a role in confronting the problem of sports intolerance?"
