Ethical standards for data journalism in Egyptian and foreign news websites

Abstract

Data journalism is one of these new phenomena that modern communication technology has helped - mainly - to develop and present it in different, more interactive and attractive forms. Data journalism relies on analyzing available numbers and data and embodying them in tables, maps and other visual forms, to give new facts and news. It is easy to obtain without those numbers, but the matter is not limited to embodying that data in drawings, otherwise the specialists in design or information graphics would do it, but the data journalist analyzes those numbers before embodying them in drawings to come up with a new and distinct journalistic story.
Professional and ethical standards are the controlling and organizing nucleus for practicing any work - in general - and journalism - in particular - and its absence and lack of commitment to it has helped many of the pioneers of electronic journalism and its workers to deviate from the values, morals and morals of society - in general - from the profession of journalism in particular. This led to a chaos in the work of electronic journalism and news sites. In the absence of legislative controls regulating electronic press and news sites, publishing chaos and the violation of ethics is spreading and all professional and ethical norms are exceeded. Therefore, it became necessary to study the ethical and legal standards that govern online journalism, data journalism, to determine the extent of its credibility and the extent of commitment to it, and to identify the different visions that governed the nature of its selection and publication in the study sites
