Abstract

The print press faces serious challenges threatening its survival, perhaps the most prominent of which is the emergence of electronic journalism, which has gained great importance since its emergence in the early nineties of the last century. With the spread of the Internet, the majority of press institutions at the global and Arab levels turned to have websites for its paper publications in order to meet the technological changes.
The problem of the study is determined in monitoring, describing and analyzing the factors affecting the distribution of newspapers in Egypt, given that these factors are the inputs that are dealt with and translated to sort the outputs. The study is taking into account studying these factors from two sides the press institution itself and from outside. To attain its results, the study conducts field study on a sample of (100) individual newspaper distributors in a sample of the governorates of Egypt - (12) governorates - as they are the groups most in direct contact with readers by virtue of the nature of their work. Some interviews were also conducted with the directors of distribution departments in the Egyptian press institutions.
