Video Journalism`s coverage of the issue of Palestinian displacement on the pages of foreign newspaper websites on Facebook and readers` comments trends towards it

Abstract

This study aimed to reveal the coverage of a sample of foreign website pages on the issue of Palestinian displacement through the video press presented through it, as well as to analyze the attitudes of readers' comments towards it. The study sample is a deliberate sample of video journalism represented in 111 video clips and is divided into: 45 videos from The Washington Post page, 34 videos on The Independent page, and 32 videos on Le Monde page, and the total comments on the Washington Post page were 23,307 comments, on the Independent page 13,955 comments, and on the Le Monde page 17,695 comments, with a total of 54,957 comments in the sample, the time sample was from February 4, 2025 until 4 March 2025. The study found that: The American site progressed in the amount of coverage of video journalism for the issue under study, the pages of the sample sites relied on the type of live broadcast, and that most of the topics it dealt with about President Trump's proposal to transfer the Palestinians to neighboring countries, and focused on the form of the news report as a template accompanying video journalism, and the treatment of the American and English site that they are with the issue of the displacement of Palestinians ,However, the French website had the same tendencies against the issue of displacement. On the American, English and French site page, the largest percentage of readers' comments were against the displacement of Palestinians, on the American and French site, the most visible actors were the people of Gaza, and on the English site page, we find that the most visible active forces are the ministers of Israel.
