Communication and framing strategies used by Egyptian newspaper websites in their coverage of the Israeli aggression on Gaza 2023 and their relationship to the level of anxiety about the future among the Egyptian public opinion

Abstract

 The study aimed to monitor, analyze and interpret the communication and framing strategies used by the websites of Egyptian newspapers in their coverage of the Israeli aggression on Gaza 2023 and their effects on the level of anxiety about the future among the Egyptian public opinion of the study sample, and to monitor the similarities and differences between the sites of the study newspapers in their coverage of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, as well as to identify the dependency degree of the study sample on these sites and the motives for this exposure, in light of a number of intermediate and demographic variables for the study sample.
The results of the study showed a significant increase in the level of anxiety about the future among the study sample of followers of Egyptian newspaper sites as a result of their exposure to the coverage of those sites of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, as the results showed that the frameworks of humanitarian concerns dominated the coverage of the three newspaper sites, where the framework was the most used in the three sites and came after the framework of conflict and victim, while the main idea focused on the coverage of press sites was the numbers and statistics of Palestinian victims of martyrs, injured and prisoners, followed by the main idea "bombing Gaza and the developments of military operations between the resistance and the occupation, "which in turn was reflected in the high levels and rates of anxiety about the future among the sample of respondents from the followers of the events of the aggression sites of the study newspapers, , injured and displaced, and the results indicated a diversity of newspaper sites in the use of media strategies, persuasion and consensus in general and weakness in the use of dialogue strategies with the public, except for the site of the Alyoum 7 newspaper.
