Abstract

This Research Aims to Evaluate the Current Situation in How Digital Environmental Media Deals with Environmental Issues, Identify the Role of Digital Environmental Media in Changing the Knowledge, Attitudes and Behaviors of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and Draw a Future Vision for the Development of Digital Environmental Media.
The Survey Approach Was Relied Upon and Two Qualitative Tools Were Combined, Namely the In-Depth Interview and The Focus Group Discussion. Interviews Were Conducted with a Deliberate Sample of Fifteen Media Experts Interested in Environmental Affairs and Experts Working in Institutions Concerned with the Environment at the Faculty of Information, Cairo University, the Ministry of the Environment, and the National Center. For Research, and the FAO, in Addition to the Sample of the Focus Group Discussion, Which Included a Group of Deaf and Hard of Hearing People, and Their Number Reached Eight Male and Female Respondents from the Faculty of Specific Education, Cairo University.
The study concluded with several results, including:
YouTube Came at the Forefront of the Sites Through Which the Targeted Discussion Group Presented Issues of Climate Change, Followed by Facebook, Then Twitter and Instagram. Experts Also Pointed Out the Necessity of Focusing the Media Primarily on the Individual’s Environmental Behavior and Consolidating His Environmental Responsibility. It Turns Out That Providing a Sign Interpreter is the First Challenge That Digital Environmental Media must Provide in Raising Awareness of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
