Public and Media Experts Vision in Egypt on Media Coverage of the COP27 Climate conference - Field study

Abstract

The study aimed to monitor and analyze the vision of the public and communication experts about the Egyptian media’s coverage of the COP27 climate summit conference in Egypt 2022, and was based on the theory of social responsibility as a theoretical framework that explains the experts’ vision about strategies for developing media coverage of such conferences, as well as covering and treating environmental issues in general based on Their evaluation of the media coverage of the event, and the study was applied to a sample of the audience consisting of 1,500 individuals aged 15 and over, who followed the conference, and 33 experts in the field of media and the environment, using both electronic questionnaire tools and in-depth interviews. The study reached many results from The most important of which was arriving at a proposed strategy to address environmental issues in the media, which included several axes related to the dimensions of the communication process, represented in the first dimension (qualifying and developing the communicator in the field of the environment), the second dimension (concerning the nature of the topics and the quality of appropriate coverage of environmental issues), and the Third (the importance of multiple communication channels, and using effective communication methods to convey environmental messages).
