Abstract

   The study aimed to provide an in-depth insight into the assessment of Bahraini youth with special needs of the effectiveness of social media in achieving their social interaction and presence. And it used the survey method and designed a guide for conducting in-depth interviews as a data collection tool that contains a number of sub-questions that cover the main questions of the study, as the in-depth individual interviews were applied to 40 respondents, distributed over the four governorates of Bahrain (Manama - Muharraq - Northern Governorate - Southern Governorate).
 
  results confirmed the extensive exposure of Bahraini youth with special needs to social media throughout the week. also showed the forefront of social media (influencers - reliable news accounts - unreliable accounts - official accounts of Arab newspapers and channels - official accounts of The International News Channels in Arabic) as an information source. All respondents praised the interactive mechanisms provided by social media, whether for the blind through voice conversations or for the deaf and dumb through video conversations using sign language or text conversation, which presented psychological support, social integration, and a high level of interaction and social presence.
   although, the majority of the respondents emphasized that social media represent a communication medium or an effective mechanism to facilitate the process of interaction and real social presence, but not as a substitute for it.
