Public interaction with fake and verified content on social media sites- Study of visual verification strategies used in newsrooms.

Abstract

This study aims to: -Identify the average audience's interaction with false and real information materials and make an objective comparison with the figures between them, Reveal the nature of the topics dealt with by media materials that are more attractive to counterfeiters, Disclosure the objectives pursued by false information materials through qualitative analysis and comments thereon, and Identify the most important mechanisms used in screening and verifying information materials spread on social media sites, And Recognize the types of counterfeiting commonly used on social media sites.
Results.
1-The number of counterfeits in the political content has risen from 53.3% in the   images to 56.7% in the videos followed by the falsification of the social content from 20% in the photos to 17% in the videos.
2-    The most used visual verification mechanism in news industry chambers to investigate the authenticity or sincerity of media materials (photos and videos) was the reverse search in the case of images, which came in at 86.7% while the sites invade, YouTube data viewer were the most used to investigate the authenticity of video sample study by 76.6%
 3-   Google Reverse Image Search is a service offered by Google for Reverse Image Search so that the image is uploaded in order to look for the similarity between the first posting of this image online and whether or not it was previously posted. YouTube data viewer has been placed online by Amnesty International to verify the authenticity of videos posted on YouTube. The invade software is the most used tool for verifying blockbuster images on social media sites and it also operates with the opposite search mechanism or specifically knowing the start of the video posting for the first time.
4- Manipulation in the background of the event in the sense of manipulation in the time and spatial context of the event, which is called substantive counterfeiting, is the most used mechanism of counterfeiting in the videos. It was used at 76.7%. The number of videos that were counterfeited in this mechanism was 23 of 30 while technical counterfeiting was used at 23%.
