Abstract

social media, and the extent of their dependence on them for getting information about the Kuwaiti Parliamentary elections 2016. Further, the study aimed at identifying the cognitive, emotional and behavioral impacts resulting from dependence by using the descriptive approach through surveying the media users on available sample comprising (400) person from the Kuwaiti voters.
The study revealed that (98%) of the study sample use social media websites, (96.7) of them depend on these websites to get information about the Kuwaiti parliamentary elections 2016 for many reasons, most notably “it is a fast mean for communicating the elections news”, while the most subjects that interest the study sample that are related to elections are: reactions of voters toward the electoral process.
The study found that the most cognitive impacts resulting from the study sample monitoring for the subjects of Kuwaiti parliamentary elections 2016 are: “It provided me with information about the candidates in the elections”, while the most emotional impacts were: it contributed in convincing me with the significance of participation in the electoral process” while the principal behavioral impacts were: “participation in the election”.
