The mechanisms of narrative cinema in the treatment of Egyptian literary texts and their relationship to the production of meaning:

Abstract

This study aimed to identify and analyze the semiotics of the various narrative cinema mechanisms and their degree in employing and processing literary texts; And all this has to do with building, producing and examining new meanings in it, as well as analyzing the motives of cinematic processing; Through the use of the semiological analysis tool; With the intent of deducing direct and implicit connotations within the cinematic discourse through the sound elements of dialogue, sound effects and pictorial music, as well as the various elements of the image such as camera movement, shooting angles, shot sizes and colors, as well as the film processing mechanisms of preserving or modifying the literary text, all in order to indicate the degree of contribution All the film elements in producing a cinematic meaning and determining its degree of inclusion or not with the literary text.
This study concluded a number of results, the most important of which are:
- The multiplicity of adaptation of narrative films to various narrative mechanisms, which varied between maintaining the narrative narration with its literalism, adding to it or deleting it.
 - Cinema’s implementation of its mechanisms on the literary text resulted in a deviation whose degree varied from weak to strong in the generated meanings, and in a manner that seemed completely separate from its literary counterpart.
- The elements of sound and the multiple elements of the image, considering them as semiological functions, played major roles in the inauguration of the new film meanings.
