Egyptian Audience Perceptions of Social Media Networks and Its Role in Developing Their Information Awareness about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic

Abstract

     This study aims at identifying Egyptian audience perceptions of social media networks and its role in developing their information awareness about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, through identifying in what extent do information that Egyptian audience need in social media networks about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, as well as the degree of their benefit from that information, through field study is applied on intentional sample of (200) male and female from social media networks users, in the period from 1/5/2020 to 15/5/2020. The study uses questionnaire form as tools for data collection as part of the sample survey method. The obtained results indicated that:

66% of the respondents confirmed that social media networks are providing them with information about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and 77.5 % of the respondents expressed that facebook ranked first among social media networks forms as a source of information about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
