Roamers across social media platforms and its relationship with political tension of the Egyptian youth

Abstract

This study is descriptive and quantitative in nature aims to discover the impact of rumours on the political tension of the Egyptian youth. The study uses survey to explore youth attitudes towards social media rumours. the findings indicated that mobile phones are the main device used by youth to navigate social media platforms and acquiring new friendship relations is the fundamental reason of social media activities. Moreover, the political pages are the most favourable and followed by sports pages and then the social and cultural pages. The results emphasize that 75% of Egyptian youth believe that the target of rumours is to create tensions, instability, and mistrust the governmental performance
